About
"Sue" Chapman has been consciously caring for women for 40+ years.
Wanting to ease the aches, pains and emotional suffering of those around her, she was first drawn to a career in nursing.
While working in a neurosurgical department she questioned the standard protocol of treatment for back pain that consisted of medication, bedrest, traction and possibly surgery.
Studying the nervous system is where she found the body/mind/emotion link to pain and suffering.
Upon visiting a massage therapist for her own chronic back pain and stress she had her first experience with Craniosacral Therapy. The effect of Craiosacral therapy during that session made a lasting impression of the effectiveness of gentle nurturing touch to release spasms and quiet the nervous system.
Her education began quickly with the Upledger Institute in Craniosacral Therapy, SomatoEmotional Release and Healing Touch and she opened her own private practice within 2 years.
Womanwise is the culmination of many years of education in physical, mental, emotional and spiritual healing methods for anxiety, stress and pain relief.
CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle, hands-on approach that releases tensions deep in the body through the nervous system. It effectivly rebalances the body by unwinding and releasing tension which relieves pain and dysfunction improving whole-body health and performance.
SomatoEmotional Release is a therapeutic process used in Craniosacral Therapy that brings awareness to memories and emotions related to restricted/blocked areas.
With compassionate guidance the emotional component holding on to the memory is released.
Healing Touch is an energy therapy developed by nurses in which practitioners consciously use their hands in a heart-centered and intentional way to support and facilitate physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health.
It uses compassionate touch to influence the human energy system, specifically the energy field that surrounds the body, and the energy centers (Chakras) that control the flow from the energy field to the physical body.
Sue has been a specialist certified in CranioSacral Therapy, SomatoEmotional Release and Healing Touch for over 15 years.
This unique combination of medical and energetic knowledge and skills enables her to work with women facing a wide variety of challenges.
Sue tailors each session to fit individual client's needs using a combination of her skills, including :
-
Craniosacral Therapy (tuning into the nervous system to guide the therapist where attention is needed. Deep core relaxation, similar to meditation, that relaxes the nervous system relieving the state of "fight or flight". Allows tensions to "unwind" naturally.)
-
SomatoEmotional Release (a therapeutic process that helps rid the mind and body of past trauma associated with negative experiences)
-
Therapeutic Massage (medical massage, myofascial release, assisted stretch, trigger point release all as needed)
-
Guided Meditation (therapist talks you through relaxation imagery)
-
Breathwork (guided breathing techniques to assist in relaxation and give a boost to releasing stuck areas)
-
Myofascial Release (gently releasing the layers of tissue that are dry and stuck together)
-
IASTM/Gua Sha (Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Manipulation) Very effective for releasing chronic stuck spots, adhesions, trigger points, ect... a flat stainless steel tool is used to gently encourage deep, old, stuck granulated tissue to bloom to the surface. May leave "petechiae" (pink/purple small spots) that fade in few hours to 48 hours.
-
Healing Touch ( Very gentle healing energy work developed by nursing professionals)
-
Mouthwork using Craniosacral Therapy (Only done with client consultation and consent. Gently releases muscle tensions from stress, dental work and/or trauma in and around the mouth. Gloves are used in this very gentle but profoundly healing therapy)
-
Chakra balancing (clearing blockage of energy centers in and around the body. When energy becomes stagnant, intentions are more difficult to actualize.)
-
Smudging/Purifying (Smudging can help combat negativity, clear the energy in your field, and help you start anew. Smudging is an ancient ceremony in which you burn sacred plants, such as sage, to allow the smoke to clear and bless a space)
