What is CranioSacral Therapy and
SomatoEmotional Release?
CranioSacral Therapy is a form of bodywork that relieves pain and suffering by unwinding tensions related to stress and trauma.
It enhances the body's natural self healing mechanisms and creates an overall feeling of wellbeing.
A skilled therapist senses the subtle rhythms and restrictions throughout the body.
Trained hands follow the patterns of the "stuck" tissues and allow/encourage tensions to unwind, release and rebalance while also calming the nervous system.
It's a subtle therapuetic dance with the client's body wisdom leading.
-
When the tension is gone, the body can reallign and suffering can fade.
-
The "fight or flight" stress response is calmed,
the "rest, digest and repair" system is engaged,
anxiety and stress are relieved,
and immune system function is enhanced.
Overall, CranioSacral Therapy continues to improve whole body health and performance days-weeks after the session is over.
SomatoEmotional Release (SER) can occure when there is a past emotional memory stuck in the tissue.
SomatoEmotional Release can bring awareness of the emotion or stressor linked to the present pain or dysfunction.
A well trained and experienced therapist creates a protected, safe space to follow and support this sensitive and profoundly freeing release.
The initial experience or trauma does not have to be re-experienced for the client to release the emotion being held in the tissues.
-
SER can bring awareness of present emotions (related to stressful life experiences) that may be stuck in the body and creating chronic pain and dysfunction.
-
SER can help assess and release restrictions related to past emotional disturbances and/or traumas.

CranioSacral Therapy: [Origin:1970s.]
Coined by John E. Upledger, DO, OMM to describe the treatment modality that he developed during his research at Michigan State University
"Craniosacral Therapy helps you release life experiences you've been holding in your body."
"Change happens when the pain of holding on to tension becomes greater than the fear of letting go."
